description

A highway interchange is treated as a site. The leftover ground between the ramps is planted in a regular grid of trees and points of light, drawn over an aerial photograph in plan, in axonometric, and at night.

The ramps keep their geometry and the planting fills whatever they leave, so the grove takes the curved, pointed shapes of the traffic engineering around it. By day it passes for green infill. At night the ramps drop away and only the grid of lights remains, tracing the interchange in reverse.
